What we love
Definitely worthy of a mention is their spectacular beach - one of the islands best examples - with 500 metres of impeccably clean white sand within a secluded bay.
Setting the scene
The resort is oh so cleverly thought out, with one end of the beach being reserved for the Beach Suites favoured by families and the far end for couples and adults. An all round winner! This is one of 'the' places to be seen in the Caribbean. And where better to be seen than swinging softly on a hammock enjoying the beach service whilst looking to the beautiful tropical rainforest covered hills that tower over the crystal waters.
The beautiful Carlisle Bay is made up of 82 contemporary suites - each one with stunning ocean views. This is a fantastic hotel for every type of guest - with flexible accommodation - some that work best for couples such as the Garden and Ocean Suites and others are the larger three-bedroom Carlisle Suites and family friendly Beach Suites, each with a relaxed contemporary design retained throughout.
As with the accommodation, beaches and activities, dining at Carlisle Bay is all about selecting the right option to suit your mood. Choose from a relaxed, toes-in-the-sand lunch delivered straight to your lounger in the Coconut Grove, or enjoy the freshest of the fresh seafood, salads, home-made breads and pastas, while children can enjoy the flexible menus designed just for them a stone's throw away at Indigo on the Beach.
For the ultimate in 'something for everyone', their newest restaurant, Ottimo!, is an Italian beside-the-pool restaurant where an authentic wood-burning pizza oven provides classic dishes using the freshest Italian ingredients. Utterly relaxed, this is a place where you can wear what you want and graze slowly with a bottle of chilled rose to hand.
For serious foodies or a romantic dinner for two (perhaps whilst the kids are taken care of by the in-house babysitters) then a date with the pan-Asian flavours at East are a must.
If variety is the spice of life then Carlisle Bay is off the scoville scale! An award winning 17,000 square foot spa, yoga pavilion, 9 (yes-9!) tennis courts, a library, boutique, 3 bars, 3 restaurants, swimming pool, dive centre, nature trails, and an air conditioned screening room are all at your disposal during your stay.
Children of all ages are massively welcome at the in resort Cool Kids Club (who each are treated to a mini-bathrobe and slippers on arrival) with activities such as lizard hunting, treasure quests, and arts and crafts all on offer. The kids club also has its own paddling pool, sand pit and jungle gym and is free for children over 2. For older children, their Crew Blue programme runs complimentary activities for children aged 7 to 12, including raft building, five-a-side football, zip-wiring and star fish hunting guaranteeing happiness throughout the ages.
Carlisle Bay is a 30-minute drive from Antigua's V.C. Bird International Airport and the lively port and capital of St. John's. The resort provide luxury private transfers from the airport for guests.
