What we love
This hotel offers so much choice as it's one of the largest hotels that we feature in the Barbados, but it manages to do so with a feeling of personal service and intimacy. Comfortable, pretty and plenty of character.
Setting the scene
This fantastic hotel, which has been privately owned by the O'Hara family for several generations, is set on a huge 12 acre plot, with lovely gardens, a great beachfront location, stunning spa, great sports facilities, an array of different room categories and tons of dining choice and all delivered with a high level of service and warmth - the epitome of choice and Caribbean charm.
There is a range of rooms, suites and villas exuding character and individuality. Spacious, tasteful and private, there is a huge variety of rooms and locations within the grounds, or beachfront views.
The Restaurant is an al fresco treat overlooking the dazzling ocean, underneath the swaying palm trees. Hance Bannister leads a team of enthusiastic and talented chefs and the menu changes daily, reflecting the freshest of seafood, classic cuisine, Caribbean flavours, even incorporating delicious buffet nights. There is also fantastic live entertainment throughout the week.
As you would expect at a hotel of this size and standard, there is a fantastic variety of activities. Two swimming pools, complementary watersports include hobie cats, laser and sunfish sailing, paddle boarding and great snorkelling. The on-site scuba diving school offers PADI instruction and deep-sea game fishing can also be organised. For active days, you can visit the gym, but the spa at Coral Reef is one of our favourites on the island - slick, professional and beautifully designed, this is highly recommended. 2 professional tennis courts (with night lighting) are available, and there's even a resident pro. Coral Reef Club is brilliantly located for some of the golf on the island, as well as some of the best shopping and beaches. However, we also absolutely love the gardens at Coral Reef - you can even take a weekly garden tour amongst the Frangipani, Flamboyant and Pride of India trees, and the Bougainvillea is stunning.
The Coral Reef Club is fantastic for families and children are welcomed with a special family programme for children between 2 and 12, which include a variety of watersports and other activities. There is a playground and several room categories are especially suited to families, as well as children's menus. Older children love the beach-front location and non-motorised watersports. It should be noted that children are not permitted between 15th Jan and 28th Feb.
It is a 45 minute journey by car from Grantley Adams International Airport.
