What we love
Location, location, location... what a beautiful stretch of perfect beach paradise. And we have never stayed in a hotel room as close to the sea - perfect for tropical beach lovers!
Setting the scene
With handsome, grand architecture and recently renovated bedrooms just metres from the beach, the Fairmont Royal Pavilion, set in 11 acres of lush garden, and on one of the prettiest stretches of beaches on the island has something for everyone. There is an understated elegance that runs through the very core of this hotel - from a daily English afternoon tea, to the laid back atmosphere, we can understand why guests return again and again.
There are 72 rooms and just two room categories - the Beachfront Junior Suites, and Oceanfront Deluxe Rooms. Both are lovely, with their spectacular location giving such amazing views and all have their own balcony or terrace. Recently renovated, comfortable and luxurious, their flexible configurations make them perfect for families and couples alike. There is also a three bedroom Garden Suite for families who would like their own unique accommodation.
The Palm Terrace Restaurant is a wonderful formal-dining option here (we arrived just as an army of live lobsters were arriving to meet their fate for the seafood night!), but we especially love Toboras - the more informal bistro-style beachfront restaurant where the breakfast, lunch and complementary afternoon tea were all fantastic.
The hotel provides complimentary non motorised water sports for guests to enjoy, but if the motorised version is your thing or your chosen sport is shopping or sight-seeing, then venture just minutes away and take advantage of all the island has to offer. World-class golf and tennis facilities are nearby, as well as some of the most charming towns in Barbados. There are good in-house fitness facilities on offer, and we love the large pool here too. However, the main attraction is the wonderful beach right on the doorstep - literally!
Children of all ages are invited to join their parents between March 15 and October 31, when the resort transforms itself into a family friendly environment. The half-mile-long beach, and complimentary daily kids activity and entertainment, promises a combination of serenity and fun for all the family. Complimentary daily activities include kayaking, beach cricket, soccer, Bajan sporting games, treasure hunts and movies
It is around a 40 minute drive by car to the Grantley Adams International Airport.
