What we love
A relatively small number of rooms means this hotel retains it's boutique charm whilst offering the service, amenities and facilities of a much larger resort. A great place to relax and unwind, get active and indulge.
Setting the scene
The Belmond Maroma is unique in it's ability to combine so many things into one stay. In a stunning location that combines pristine beach with verdant jungle this is a boutique hotel that delivers a luxury resort experience. Attention to detail, in the rooms, in the dining and in the remarkable service leave you nothing to do but enjoy.
Drift off to sleep with the sound of the lapping ocean just metres from your room. All the rooms and suites are close to the beach, most with sea views but those that don't look out to the Mayan jungle. The rooms are all furnished with king size beds, luxuriously sized bathrooms and private terraces although you will have to upgrade to the one bedroom suite for the private plunge pool.
Dining at the Belmond Maroma is an elegantly simple but delicious affair. El Restaurante is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and serves up a tantalising assortment of regional Mexican fare from Baja California style shrimp tacos to panuchos from the local Yucatan area. El Sol Tapas and Restaurant is a Mediterranean style eatery with a Mexican twist. The food is an eclectic combination of European and Mexican cultures carefully blended together. Enjoy with a glass of wine as you take in the sea views.
La Cantina and Freddy's Tequila and Ceviche Bar between them offer a host of tequilas, homemade beers and light snacks. Freddy's, situated on the edge of the beach, offers some of the best fresh fish sushi, sashimi and ceviches in the region.
There is much to entertain here, both at the hotel and exploring the beautiful surrounds. The resort boasts three swimming pools, one specifically for families leaving two for a quieter adult atmosphere. For those that like to be active there is a fully equipped fitness centre, two tennis courts onsite and ten high quality golf courses nearby. Relaxing at the resort is easy, try the Kinan Spa incorporating Mayan healing techniques or take some time out in the unique Palapa Cultural, a haven of reading material, DVDs and internet access.
There are many ways to discover the beauty of the Riviera Maya. From the resort you can travel to some of the most impressive of the Mayan ruins such as Chitzen Itza with it's iconic pyramid, Tulum, known for it's stunning coastal position.
Taking to the water is a popular choice - scuba diving, snorkelling or swimming with dolphins and whale sharks show you the colourful marine life in the crystal clear waters of this stunning coastal region. Try kiteboarding, kayaking or sailing or if you are a land lover take a trip through the jungle to meet local species and see firsthand a sustainable, eco friendly community.
The resort welcomes families adding child sized robes and child welcome kits to the rooms on arrival. There is no Kids Club at the resort but there is plenty to entertain young guests. They are welcome to join in organised beach games, make use of the games centre and are encouraged to take part in the tours and activities.
Cancun International Airport is the main gateway to the area with flights from the USA and the UK. The resort is just 20 minutes drive from the airport.
