What we love
Take the outside lift down to the Private Beach Club with bar, restaurant, outside pool and sea access - the perfect accompaniment to the hotel's luxurious and romantic feel.
Setting the scene
Timeless and elegant, Santa Caterina is a converted late 19th century liberty-style villa, hidden away in the hillside of the Amalfi Coast. Impeccable standards of service succeed in maintaining an intimate, homely feel to the property. Santa Caterina is one of the finest examples of a sophisticated seaside residence. Cascading down to the rugged coastline, the property is landscaped over several levels creating a casual yet luxurious atmosphere in keeping with La Dolce Vita. Unmistakably Italian and unquestionably five-star, this is a true jewel of the Mediterranean.
The 36 Standard, Superior and Deluxe bedrooms and 13 Suites are all located in the main building and characterised by classical interior design and decadent furnishings. The secluded Garden Suites are, as the name suggests, located in the garden area of the hotel.
An additional 17 accommodations between deluxe rooms, junior suites, suites and Senior Deluxe suites are situated in the hotel's Villa Santa Caterina and the recently-acquired Villa Il Rosso. All enjoy hand-painted ceramics, locally-sourced traditional wrought iron fittings and the high vaulted ceilings typical of Mediterranean architecture.
For a once-in-a-lifetime trip, there are the honeymoon suites. Floor to ceiling windows frame your private terrace and the Amalfi Coast beyond. Largely considered the most romantic setting in the Amalfi Coast, these suites are perfect for honeymooners seeking out privacy and extravagance in their accommodation!
There are two restaurants in the hotel; one in the main building and the other set on the seafront. Restaurant Santa Caterina's reputation proceeds it, with diners flocking from far and wide to taste the innovative cuisine on offer within the sun-drenched elegant dining room.
For a spectacular spot of lunch, head down to the hotel's private beach platform to find Restaurant Al Mare; their al fresco, relaxed venue serving fresh seafood and rustic, wood-oven cooked pizzas.
For a pre-dinner apertivo or a romantic post-dinner nightcap, make for the bar La Terrazza. And for wine lovers, make sure you enquire about their wine cellar, which houses some of the finest vintages around.
Whatever you're in search of for your holiday on the Amalfi Coast, Santa Caterina Hotel will not disappoint. In the hotel you have direct access via a lift to the private Beach platform, where you can sun worship to your heart's content, bathe in the brilliant blue of the Mediterranean, or take a dip in the outdoor swimming pool.
The main hotel complex is home to the fabulous Spa, offering treatments designed to relax, revitalise and generally nurture mind, body & spirit.
For visitors keen to take advantage of the hotel's water's-edge location, there is a multitude of watersports on offer, plus boat trips providing endless opportunities for exploring. Hire an original Fiat 600 (like Jackie Kennedy)and take to the winding coastal roads to discover the beauty of the Amalfi Coast. Skirt around the coast, passing in and out of traditional fishing villages and taking time to stop off at the likes of Amalfi, Sorrento, Ravello and Positano.
Whilst this hotel welcomes families, it's Cliffside location means that the walk down to the town is not necessarily ideal for families with small children. Therefore, we recommend this hotel for families with older children and teenagers who won't mind the walk! Taxis are available for the return uphill trip back to the hotel!
