What we love
This elegant country house has a timeless, colonial feel of relaxed grandeur. Comfortable interiors and one of our favourite pools in Morocco make this a perfect place for families and groups, with a location that allows you to be as active or relaxed as you like.
This charming, elegant villa has been called ‘paradise in a walled garden’. Built by a French Colonel 70 years ago, it was completely renovated by its current owner in 2003, and is set in a mature 5 acre garden, complete with 1000 roses, date palms, olives, oranges, lemons and a vast vegetable patch that supplies the wonderful cook here with fresh ingredients, and makes the garden a beautiful, fragrant place to relax.
We love the pool here – peaceful and surrounded by supremely comfortable sun beds, and with a pool house equipped with fridge, refreshments and a table tennis table.
The large spacious rooms combine a feeling of laid back Mediterranean luxury with a more traditional Moroccan and Syrian style, using traditional materials, such as Zillij tiles and Tadelakt. The 6 double bedrooms offer very flexible accommodation (3 bedrooms can be twin if required) and all are on the ground floor level, making this a great venue for child-friendly family holidays or more sophisticated adult house-parties. Not overlooked and incredibly peaceful, this is ideally suited to a relaxing holidays, yet only 20 minutes drive from Marrakesh city centre, for when you’re ready to dive in to the sightseeing, souks and restaurants that Marrakesh has to offer.
As the villa is in between Marrakesh and the mountains, you are treated to a wonderful mountainous horizon from the fabulous roof terrace here – we witnessed a spectacular sunset from here during our stay. The Villa comes into its own after dark - the front of the villa, drive and fountain are lit by candlelight lanterns and the palm trees in the gardens are also illuminated. Drinks and dinner on the terrace certainly add to the appeal!
A large open-plan drawing room and dining area has a fireplace and access through to the terrace area, giving plenty of family, entertaining and dining options, and a library houses the TV, DVD player, Computer and internet connection. 4 bedrooms are in the main house and 2 double bedrooms in the garden pavilion provide the remainder of the accommodation. There is also an additional bedroom in the pool house, suitable for extra staff (or even teenagers!)
Despite the appeal of the property itself, the experience of staying here comes from the wonderful staff – attentive, friendly and natural hosts, they will make a stay here truly memorable (and delicious!)
