What we love
The guest to land ratio here at Kwandwe is among the best in South Africa allowing the animals residence to be explored in incredible exclusivity.
Setting the scene
The 2 Lodges and 2 Exclusive Use Villas are dotted around this vast expanse adding to the privacy of this safari getaway. The Great Fish river flanks adjacently through this vast wilderness and merely adds uniqueness to the resort.
See below a quick overview of the four lodges:
Great Fish River lodge - an archetypal “Grand Dame” of safari lodges - a beautiful classic lodge with contemporary touches to keep up with todays modern travellers demands. Enormous glass fold away windows provide dramatic and endless views over the wilderness surrounding the lodge. Each room has a private plunge pool and indoor / outdoor shower with separate bath. 9 suites.
Ecca Lodge - An intimate, stylish and more contemporary lodge with only 6 suites. Lots of colour to reflect the vibrant nature of the African people, again with private plunge pools in each suite and a large living room that can be converted into a separate children’s bedroom.
Melton Manor - A contemporary safari villa, converted from an old farmhouse into a more modern, light impressive exclusive use villa. 4 suites surround a lush courtyard garden and pool area. The villa comes with a full compliment of staff, guide, tracker and 4x4 safari vehicle.
Uplands Homestead - A beautiful, lovingly restored 1920’s farmhouse with 3 suites (maximum of 6 guests), private lawn area and pool. The villa comes with a full compliment of staff, guide, tracker and 4x4 safari vehicle
Choose between International dishes or local cuisine all made with fresh and where possible, local ingredients. Dine in the designated areas al fresco or indoors, or be waited on hand and foot in your own private terrace or living area. The quality of food matches the classy accommodation and fulfilling safaris of the resort, just when you don't think things here can get any better, sit down to eat!
There are game drives and walks in between delicious breakfasts, lunches and dinners once you have chatted through your preferred discoveries and favourite wildlife with one of the rangers on hand. Spend as much time exploring or as much time relaxing as you feel appropriate that day. The famous Big 5 are proud residences of this fine reserve among a huge collection of rarer but equally impressive and fascinating species.
Most of the lodges are child friendly (all but Great Fish River Lodge where children must be 12 years and over) so choose your lodge dependant on age and size of your family. There are a multitude of children activities out in the bush under the guidance of the passionate rangers who take immense pride in passing on their knowledge and contagious enthusiasm. Child minders are available at no extra cost should the parents with an excursion on their own and there are child menu's to make meal time a breeze!
