What we love
Unparalleled in its diverse range of wildlife, culture and breathtaking scenery.
Scouring the southern-east coast of South Africa, as the name suggests, the Garden Route is a tour through the verdant and ecological diverse vegetation of this protected corner of the country. Blessed with the second mildest climate in the world, this self-drive is one of most aesthetically and soulfully rewarding drives you will ever encounter on this planet. Stretching from Mossel Bay in the Western Cape to the Storm Rivers in the Eastern Cape. The lakes, lagoons, reefs, rivers and wildlife truly are magnificent.
There aren't many places in the world where you can go from a scenic drive to traversing caves to diving with great white sharks and even seeing elephants a few meters from your face. The diversity is perhaps what makes this such a scintillating experience, with so many choices when it comes to activities and areas to explore it really does cater for everyone. So, whether you're a wildlife enthusiast, a photographer or even someone who loves to enjoy beautiful scenery this will be right up your street.

WHO SHOULD VISIT
The Garden Route is perfect for anyone looking to experience culture, cuisine, scenery and one of the best coastal drives in the world. This is why it is perfectly catered to all types of travellers, whether on a honeymoon, traveling solo, as a family or part of a group.
WHEN TO VISIT
South Africa has very distinct climatic zones meaning that weather can be very different at certain times of the year. For the Winelands the following is relevant:
January - March: Peak time, bigger crowds with the warmest temperatures.
April - May: One of the best times to visit due to the small crowds and the great weather.
June - September: Cooler temperatures in the Winelands and Garden Route with the off shower (whale watching season July-November).
October - December: The Garden Route begins to warm up and offers fantastic weather, perfect time to combine regions. Bear in mind December is one of the busiest months to visit and this books up extremely quickly.
PASSPORTS & VISAS
A passport with at least six months validity is necessary as well as at least 2 blank pages when you present it at immigration. A visa is not required for stays up to 90 days.
