Setting the scene

The Selous' offers some of the most diverse habitats which include open glades, woodland, river, palm fringed lakes and rocky gorges. This makes Sand Rivers the ultimate safari experience!

Sleeping

8 beautiful open fronted cottages on high platforms make up the camp. There are 5 Standard Riverside rooms and 3 Hillside Suites. All have en-suite bathrooms, with flush toilets, powerful showers and hot and cold running water. The Hillside suites all come with their own private plunge pool and additional lounge area. 

Doing

There is so much on offer at Sand Rivers in terms of activities, with great opportunities for game viewing on foot, by vehicle or perhaps boat the camp makes most of them all! Bush picnics, fishing trips and walks to the hot springs there really is a fantastic list of things to do.  

Fly camping is an experience in itself and a highly recommended part of any safari. Fly camps are shared and guests eat and sleep under spacious mosquito nets. A bucket shower with hot water, and short-stop toilets is set up behind camp. A full compliment of staff provide a full breakfast, light lunch, and 3-course candlelit dinner - a perfect way to fully immerse yourself in the bush. 

Playing

There are no childcare facilities at the camp however, children over the age of 8 are welcome. Please note that only children of 12 years and over can participate in walking and fly camping activities. 

Arriving

There are daily flights from Dar Es Salaam, Zanzibar, Ruaha, Mafia, Pemba and northern Tanzania to Kiba airstrip. From there its a very short 20 minute drive to the camp.
