Setting the scene
The Grumeti River known best for its wildebeest crossings and huge Nile crocodiles is home to andBeyond Grumeti Serengeti Tented Camp tucked away in to a strip of forest where your neighbours are hippos and colobus monkeys. Every year, in June and July, Africa’s Great Migration passes through the Grumeti area and hundreds upon thousands of wildebeest, zebra and other animals cross the Grumeti River, risking the jaws of some of Africa’s largest crocodiles.
During the remainder of the year, the game viewing in the area is excellent with the open Western Serengeti plains attracting the stunning cheetah and large prides of lion, as well as hyena.
The 10 beautifully rustic tents provide quirky touches that emphasise the natural setting. Each of the spacious tents come with a furnished viewing deck and en suite bathroom with separate open shower, perfect for star gazing!
At the camp the open 4x4 safaris offer the perfect viewing experience for the twice daily game drives with sunrise and sundowner stops. Balloon safaris are now also available for the more adventurous guest!
This camp only accepts children over the age of 6. Children between the ages of 6 and 12 years will be allowed to partake in game drives at the guides discretion.
A number of airlines offer daily scheduled flights from Arusha to the Grumeti airstrip. Its then a short 5 to 10 minute drive to the camp.
