What we love
Having lived on this gorgeous island for five years, I may be biased, but it really is one of the most beautiful places on the planet!
Setting the scene
Surrounded by beautiful and breathtaking coral reefs and home to Africa's most incredible dive sites lies the private andBeyond Mnemba Island. The crystal clear seas surrounding the island offer snorkelling, scuba diving, kayaking, fishing, standup paddle boarding and permanent swimming directly from the beach.
Renowned as one of the most romantic ocean destinations in the whole world with its exquisite coral beaches and with turtle season peaking between March and June this private and rustic retreat is a hidden gem on the African coastline.
12 beautifully positioned and rustic palm-fond bandas hide in the forest and your own personal beach cabana is only a few steps away. A covered walkway leads to a shuttered ensuite bathroom with a huge glass-beaded shower curtain and intricate detailed woodcarvings cover the room. Built-in barazas on the veranda are perfect for afternoon siestas and ten private beach salas feature traditional Zanzibari loungers.
Some of the activities to participate in at Mnemba Island Lodge include scuba diving outings (two per day), snorkeling, kayaking, swimming, windsurfing and fly–fishing. Additionally guests can arrange a wide range of Scuba diving, training and appropriate certification for beginner and advanced divers. There is also deep sea fishing for barracuda, mackerel, king fish and Marlin.
Children are welcome are very much welcome on the island and the Wild Child kids club will keep them entertained!
There are international flights to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Nairobi and then a short flight to Stonetown Airport in Zanzibar. A chauffeured transfer will then transport to the launch point where a boat take you to Mnemba Island, a short 20-minute journey.
