What we love
White-water rafting down the Ayung River, below Amandari, makes for a thrilling activity. It is also a novel way of seeing Bali’s lush tropical rainforest.
Setting the scene
Based on the format of a traditional Balinese village, Amandari is a beautiful and peaceful retreat located in the heart of Bali, Ubud. Set among the rice terraces and home to a sacred shrine, there is a real spiritual feel to the resort making it a very special place to enjoy and relax.
Sleeping
There are 30 traditional Balinese pavilion Suites. All suites have individual, private terraces and the higher tiers available boast grander facets such as pools and views to blow the mind.
For those seeking the ultimate in relaxation and privacy, the Amandari Villa is a three bedroom residence set away from the resort high above the the verdant Ayung River Gorge and terraced rice fields.
Eating
There is one main restaurant at the resort that serves delicious Indonesian and western cuisine. The setting is jaw dropping with fabulous views over Amandari’s swimming pool and the Ayung Valley.
Doing
Journeys and tours to the local area where temples, galleries, museums and local ways are to be discovered. We recommend this resort for the creative, intrigued and those with an eye for detail. Trek or bike through the Ayung valley and take in the luscious surroundings and interact with the natives. The Bali Handara Kosaido Country Club is a top golf course that is a must for the golfers among the trip. Finish a day of exploring by indulging in the high quality full treatment spa.
Playing
Families are welcomed here at Amandari, but we do recommend other hotels within the island more suited to families.
Arriving
Amandari is a 1 hour drive from Denpasar Airport.
