What we love
As expected from a Four Seasons property, the service was second to none. The staff - all from the surrounding areas - are friendly, helpful and so proud of where they call home and this really resonates throughout the hotel.
Setting the scene
The stunning Four Seasons Chiang Mai with it's picturesque backdrop of the Mae Rim Valley mountains overlooks emerald green terraced rice fields. This is the perfect hotel to explore the distinctive charm of Chiang Mai, nicknamed 'The Rose of the North', and enjoy the authentic Thai experience that the resort provides.
The hotel offers 98 spacious accommodations, ranging from Garden Pavilions to Private Residences - it really does have it all! Topped off with a super cool outdoor bar complete with swinging seats and both Thai and Italian cuisine. This is a stunning pairing with the Golden Triangle Tented Camp.
Each accommodation is furnished in a style consistent with a luxurious northern Thai home, bedecked in rich Thai cotton, Siamese artwork and fitted with all the modern conveniences to ensure a comfortable stay.
There are two restaurants at the hotel; Sample authentic northern Thai delicacies and enjoy afternoon tea over sweeping views of the Mae Rim Valley at Sala Mae Rim or Dine al fresco on the finest Italian cuisine at The Terraces - a stunning open-air setting.
Thai cuisine is at the forefront at the Four Seasons Chiang Mai. The cooking school introduces guests to the art of the Thai cuisine and this starts in the rice fields! Rice planting is a must whilst here - the local farmers invite you to join them as they transplant sprouts from seedbeds to the ricefields whilst wearing the morhom, a farmer’s traditional costume
The next step is to get cooking! The Resort's master culinary team offer guests a hands-on learning experience. Tour local food markets and learn to make famous dishes such as Kaow Soi Gai (Chiang Mai curry noodle soup with chicken) and Gaeng Hung Lay (dry spiced curry with pork and pickled garlic) which are just two of the specialities that can be discovered in the weekly programme.
Finally, guests can make use of the resort's fantastic health club, featuring state-of-the-art exercise equipment, saunas, Thai herbal steam rooms, a heated outdoor whirlpool, a plunge pool and an infinity pool.
This is a great resort for families - The in-house Gekko Club provides a safe and exciting place for children to enjoy fun activities such as kite making, stone painting and clay pot decorating. Kids are also invited to try Young Yoga and to choose from a range of kids spa treatments.
The resort is around 25 minutes away from Chiang Mai International Airport or about 4 hours by car from the Four Seasons Golden Triangle for a perfect dual centre stay.
