What we love
The largest private island in the BVI this is a haven of coves and bluffs hidden away on a 1,800 acre oasis of tranquillity.
Setting the scene
For that true British Virgin Islands vacation, look no further than Peter Island. This is the perfect destination for those truly wishing to get away from everyday life and absorb yourself in the natural oasis of calm and ultimate escapism. This family owned island offers a sense of wellbeing and peace and quiet with an incredible five beaches to choose from including tiny Honeymoon Beach for two, Deadman's beach - a pristine, mile long crescent of pure white sand, and White Bay Beach where you'll find just six straw bohios with sunbeds and a spectacular view of Norman Island, said to be the setting for Treasure Island.
Each of the 52 rooms are furnished in natural woods and fabrics and set around the main beach and harbour. The Beach Front Junior Suites are only a few glorious steps off the white sands of Deadman's Beach, and the Ocean View rooms are just a stones throw away from the resort's fabulous pool. Either way, you can't go wrong. For the ultimate in luxury, you can exclusively hire the whole island - a tropical island reserved exclusively for you. With 32 Ocean View Rooms, 20 Beach Front Junior Suites and three luxury villas, the island can accommodate groups of up to 130 guests for any occasion.
Only the finest and freshest ingredients are served in all of Peter Island's restaurants, as Peter Island's signature restaurant, Tradewinds features the Caribbean's most renowned chefs serving delicious bistro and Asian-Caribbean cuisine whilst Deadman's Beach bar and Grill is a tempting fusion of Caribbean and continental flavours surrounded by sea grapes and palms. For a relaxing cocktail or Caribbean Martini, Drake's Lounge is the perfect place to stop and soak up the atmosphere.
Get busy doing absolutely nothing, or paddleboard, kayak or take a day trip to one of the other incredible islands, reefs or attractions nearby. For those looking to explore the ocean, dives can be organised through Paradise Watersports, Peter Island's own on-island dive shop. Snorkelling is also a must! The spa is located on the Big Reef Bay and offers an array of single or couples treatments both inside the spa or in one of the outdoor bohios - perfect for uninterrupted relaxation with the sound of the sea.
Although Peter Island welcome children of all ages there are no specific facilities except babysitting available for them at the resort.
Rugged, rocky Peter Island involves a short flight from Antigua to Tortola's Beef Island airport, then a private transfer from the airport jetty.
