What we love
I know you're not meant to have favourites, but I can not deny it - Parrot Cay is my personal benchmark for paradise! Set on its own private island, this seductive sanctuary really does feel like heaven on - the epitome of foot-in-the-sand luxury.
Setting the scene
As one of the 40 small islands in the Turks and Caicos archipelago, Parrot Cay is living proof that good things come in small packages (although not strictly true as it spans 1,000 acres of secluded bliss!) The seamless speedboat transfer from Providenciales airport only adds to the charm and exclusivity of this resort, surrounded by crystal clear waters and three miles of pure white sandy beaches. What's more, the island couldn't get more Zen if it tried. With an incredibly low key ambience and laid back feel paired with floaty white fabrics and teak flooring I guarantee you will leave the resort feeling refreshed, rejuvenated and revived - and that's even before a mention of the Shambala spa and cuisine.
Privacy, seclusion and luxury are the name of the game at Parrot Cay. The Cove Suites offer unrivalled decadence and uninterrupted views of the pristine ocean. Cleverly situated away from the main hub of the resort guests can dip in or out as much as they wish whilst also being close to the sumptuous Cove Restaurant and spa.
For even more exclusivity why not take over your very own villa on the resort? Pelican cottage (3 or 6 bedroom set up), Turtle cottage (4 bedrooms) and Rock cottage (2 or 5 bedroom set up) are quite simply 'home away from home', with crisp, airy and luxurious furnishings - perfect for whiling away the evenings or sitting round your own private pool and terrace.
Parrot Cay offers some of the most varied dining options in the Turks and Caicos. The stunningly situated poolside Lotus Restaurant offers typically Caribbean food during the day before transforming into a contemporary feast of fusion flavours by night. In the main resort, the Terrace Restaurant offers Italian style cuisine.
For those looking for nutritious and delicious meals, maximizing wellbeing and energy then look no further than the COMO Shambhala menus, which use organic ingredients rich in living enzymes, vitamins and sea minerals.
Flexible dining options also mean you can enjoy your meals in the complete privacy of your room or villa or even private dining on the beach or very own tiki hut.
The Resort invites you to discover your calming spirit at their COMO Shambhala Retreat where they offer holistic, Asian-inspired treatments including Ayurveda, aromatherapy, Pilates and other holistic approaches to mental quietude, physical wellbeing and spiritual balance. The facilities include a sweeping yoga room aired by natural breezes, nine treatment rooms, an outdoor Jacuzzi garden, a Pilates studio, double massage rooms and Japanese baths; all in low-lying pavilions overlooking the North Caicos Channel and the surrounding wetlands.
Although most Parrot Cay guests visit for the privacy and beaches, the resort also offers unforgettable activities, including water-skiing, sailing, windsurfing, kayaking, deep-sea fishing and sunset cruising and the must-try paddle boarding (it's harder than it looks!)
The Resort doesn't have a kids club but instead understands that every family is different so offer customised experiences, from off-island adventures to kid-friendly food. There is also a coconut tree plantation for kids to leave their mark on the island - but be warned - you must return to see it grow! From something a little more mainstream, the welcoming staff can also organise pirate scavenger hunts and sailing adventures around the island, as well as seashell paining and sand castle competitions.
As a guests of Parrot Cay you will be whisked off from Providenciales airport to Leeward Marina (roughly 15 minutes by road) to board your 35 minute relaxing (and stunning!) boat transfer to the island.
