Villa Fabrica, Pyrgos Santorini, Greece
What we love
The hike From Fira to Oia - the single best thing to do on Santorini – and it's free!
Santorini, once devastated by a volcanic eruption in the 16th century BC causing the centre of the island to collapse, the island has since become one of the most picturesque in Greece and natural wonders of the Aegean.
Sat between Athens and Crete, this world-famous island forms the southernmost member of the Cyclades group. Here you can enjoy a dramatic landscape, incredible ocean views and wander the charming cliffside villages peppered with whitewashed houses and blue-domed churches.
The main town of Thira boasts a good range of tavernas, gourmet restaurants and open-air lounge bars set along the cliff edge. It’s a perfect place to sip a pre-dinner cocktail while enjoying Greece's most photographed sunset. Travel to the Northern tip of the island to the small town of Oia, home to narrow cobbled streets lined with stylish boutiques and smart jewellery shops.
Although one of the most picturesque Greek islands, you will not find white sandy beaches here. Instead you can appreciate the multicolored volcanic sand, pebbles and jagged cliffs.
If this isn’t on your bucket list, it certainly should be!
