What we love

A once in a lifetime experience! La Mamounia deserves its place as one of the world's most celebrated hotels. Think regal opulence and sensuous indulgence in a stunning oasis of tranquillity. Sir Winston Churchill called it the most lovely spot in the world and it's been setting the standard for luxury ever since!

La Mamounia, Atlas Mountains

206 Rooms & Suites

Setting the scene

Set within ancient walls in 17 acres of the most amazing gardens, with the imposing Atlas Mountains as a backdrop, this really is a haven of peace and relaxation. Listening to the birds sing, whilst wandering by the fragrant plants grown for the hotel's own kitchen, it's hard to believe the bustle of Djemaa el Fna is only a stone's throw away. Recently refurbished, La Mamounia is better than ever, oozing with decadence and style that's fit for a film star.

Rose-scented, deep-carpeted hallways lead to beautiful guest bedrooms and suites. There are 20 different room types, from the Classic Rooms on the lower floors; to Deluxe Rooms with views of the Atlas Mountains, the gardens or the Koutoubia Mosque; to the magnificent individual Suites for that added touch of luxury. Most notably, the Churchill Suite features one of Sir Winston's unfinished paintings, along with his iconic umbrella and hat. Finally there's a choice of 3 riads, perfect for blissful relaxation, located in the heart of the gardens with a private terrace and swimming pool.

World-class chefs head up the choice of 4 restaurants, where dining is a treat not to be missed. Guests can sample some of the freshest and finest seafood at Le Francais. It is no surprise that Michelin-star chefs captain both the French restaurant and L'Italien, where contemporary Italian cuisine is served. Le Marocain - you guessed it, a Moroccan restaurant and is an experience not to be missed. Set in the hotel gardens, the aromatic cuisine and live Moroccan music set the scene for a magical atmosphere. For slightly less formal dining, the Pavilion de la Piscine is ideal; the vast breakfast and Mediterranean buffet lunch is particularly impressive here. If you've got a sweet tooth, Le Menzeh Patissier and Glacier is a treat, serving delicious ice-creams, home-made macaroons and sugary delights. As for bars, the poolside one offers a wonderful shaded spot to enjoy a daytime drink; the stylish Le Bar Italien is perfect for pre-dinner Martinis and Le Bar Marocain is at its best at night - the Atlas Mountains offer a stunning backdrop for a pre-dinner cocktail. Personal service, on par with the rest of the hotel, is a perfect blend of 'attentive yet unobtrusive'.

Relaxing, rejuvenating, feeling like a film star - what more could you want! The Moroccan Spa, immaculately presented in a marble and mosaic design, is out of this world, encompassing 27,000 square feet of sheer decadence. Ornate ceilings, arched columns, candlelit chambers, and aromas conjured up by Olivia Giacobetti set the perfect scene for de-stressing. The large heated indoor pool is inviting and the gym is well equipped, if you're feeling energetic! The treatments are fabulous and you have a wide choice with 9 treatment rooms, 6 outdoor massage cabins, 2 Hammans and a spa suite for some personal pampering. The beautiful outdoor swimming pool is equally tempting, with pristine white sun loungers and comfy pillows seducing you to relax. Amongst the vast gardens, there are two clay tennis courts, a fitness pavilion with squash courts and a driving range. Culture plays a major part of the experience at La Mamounia with regular art and literature exhibitions and fascinating photography on display. If you can tear yourself away from the hotel walls, the colourful souks are waiting to be explored, as well as the contrasting peace of the mountains. The reception staff can arrange virtually anything for you and it's definitely worth having a local guide to help you explore.

The hotel does accept children and they are catered for with a children's outdoor pool. Babysitting and child-care services can also be arranged through the hotel at an extra cost, however there is no kids club and under 16s are not allowed in the spa.

The nearest airport is Marrakesh Menara Airport, just 20 minutes drive away by private transfer.
