What we love
At the heart of all the action, Shangri-La Al Bandar is perfect for all the family. Stunning accommodation, beautiful views, amazing spa and pristine beach - plus a huge choice of facilities and delicious cuisine - we loved it all!
Setting the scene
Al Bandar, meaning 'town' is the focal point of the three hotels that make up the Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah Resort & Spa. Inspired by Old Muscat, with ornate details and different height buildings, it gives the sense of a mystical Arabian town. If you want to be in the heart of all of the action, Al Bandar is a great choice to make best use of the resort's extensive facilities.
All of the 198 spacious rooms feature a private balcony or terrace, with lush views overlooking the gardens, the pool or the sparkling Gulf of Oman. Arabian-inspired furnishings and local artworks create a relaxing ambience in the comfortable rooms. Deluxe Terrace Rooms give direct access to the garden and pool area. If you want to splash out, the One-Bedroom Suite is truly opulent, whilst the Speciality Suites take luxury to the next level.
Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah Resort is home to a host of varied restaurants, seven of which are on site at Al Bandar. Al Tanoor is the main restaurant, designed with Arabian tents, pottery and vibrant colours to create a traditional Omani atmosphere. Open cooking stations serve up Mediterranean, Persian, Indian and Turkish favourites, as well as authentic Arabian cuisine.|Italian recipes are created at Capri Court, whilst Circles serves up wood-fired pizzas and cocktails. Mediterranean and Asian tapas and Middle Eastern Mezze can be enjoyed late into the night at Tapas & Sablah. Freshly caught seafood is delicious (evening only) at Bait Al Bahr. Enjoy a cocktail overlooking the sea at the Piano Lounge or sample some of the extensive range of liqueurs at the Long Bar. Mokha Cafe serves coffee, tea, homemade pastries and ice cream and the various beach and pool bars are perfect for a light snack or refreshing drink.
With so many activities offers at the resort, the choice is endless. Shangri-La Al Bandar is situated at the heart of the action, with access to virtually everything. The Lazy River connects Al Bandar with its sister Al Waha and is a delightful half-kilometre winding way to float from pool to pool. The private beach, exclusive to the resort, offers sun loungers, a bar area and one kilometre of golden soft sand. Make the most of the beachfront location by experiencing the thrilling watersports - dolphin watching, snorkelling, sailing and scuba diving with the resort's own PADI dive school. The fitness centre is well equipped and four tennis courts are available daily. For relaxation, the holistic CHI, The Spa offers a luxurious range of treatments, meditation classes and facilities, including a vitality hydro pool, steam room, tropical showers, ice fountain and relaxation area.
