What we love
Home to the Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman’s Wharf, Oakland district and Fort Mason to name but a few of California’s most well loved cities’ attractions.
Drawing in visitors in their hoards, San Francisco is a heart–warming, relaxed city steeped in culture and opportunity. If there were an award available for a community construing happiness, San Francisco would be up for an Oscar winning performance.
Defined by her Victorian architecture and famous trams that run up and down her undulating streets, San Francisco exudes an old-world charm. Rich in scenic beauty with almost every corner of this city offering supreme ‘Kodak moments’, this is California’s least glitzy of cities. Whilst she may fall behind in alluring celebrities to her neighbourhoods, this makes for a refreshing change in the pace of life as travellers head to this northern region of California.
Perched on the coastline, there is so much to reward the visitor. Enticing restaurants offering supreme seafood, none more so than those in Fisherman’s Wharf (clue is in the name!) as well as endless excuses to indulge in some retail therapy. This sophisticated and achingly elegant city is the ideal escape to recharge the battery.
And if the laid back approach is not quite your kettle of fish then fear not, San Francisco and her Golden Gate Bridge affords a more athletic approach to your day. Ditch the four wheels and take to two with a cycle along her famous landmark bridge. At 3 miles long and one of the most photographed bridges in the world, it is certainly one to tick off the bucket list. And speaking of bucket lists, make time to visit the eerie yet must-do Alcatraz Island. Site of the well-reputed prison, a day trip to Alcatraz is a sobering affair but one we advise not to miss out on.
