What we love
We love a place that reflects the true essence of an area without trying to take away from it. Metropolitan by COMO takes the eccentricities of the Art Deco era and blends them seamlessly with contemporary living to create a vivid depiction of Miami today.
Setting the scene
At the heart of Miami Beach Historic District, Metropolitan by COMO is as the name suggests; the top end of urban modernity and city-chic but without losing its 1920s art deco charm. Located on Collins Avenue, famous for its iconic art deco buildings, South Beach is a short rollerskate away, as are the boutiques, restaurants and galleries.
As one of Miami's greatest examples of Art Deco luxury hotels, Metropolitan by COMO has an array of rooms that reflect the playful use of pastel colours, cool marbles and shimmering chromes, but without losing its contemporary spirit, evident in the sleek lines and well-equipped rooms. Depending on your preference of view (but surely a sea view when in Miami is a must) there are various rooms and suites to suit your needs, all designed by Paola Navone and kitted-out with the latest in technology.
Staying at a place on the beach has to mean freshly-caught, local seafood, and that, fortunately, is what you can expect at Traymore. Executive chef Jonathan Lane combines Floridian seafood with American favourites to create forward-thinking yet timeless menus. The tables spill out from the lobby onto the terrace, accentuating the social vibrancy that Miami is renowned for. The poolside cabanas offer a welcome break from the buzz of the beach with tables positioned amongst the shady palms. Feast on fresh pizzas from the brick oven or a juicy burger, or keep it real with seafood and salads.
As one comes to expect from hotels of this calibre, there is a spa, COMO Shambhala Urban Escape, offering a highly personalised approach to wellbeing for both guests and locals. If you're in Miami for more than a 'fluff n buff' then Metropolitan by COMO has its own private stretch of beach, and can also arrange fun in the sun in the shape of deep sea fishing, a private yacht cruise, kitesurfing, paddleboarding. There are also several private and pubic golf courses. To really get taste of Miami, take a stroll along pedestrianised Lincoln Road, home to antique and flea markets and a people-watching paradise, lined with restaurants and bars of every kind.
