Setting the scene
Hailed as the prominent luxury destination in Las Vegas, Wynn and her hipper sister Encore is a joy to explore. Although located on a prime Strip position, you hardly need to leave the award-winning resort. Indulgent facilities are at every turn - from private lagoons and waterfalls, to a manmade mountain, a relaxing spa and an 18-hole golf course, all set within scenic gardens. The exclusive shopping parade features renowned designers and the nightly entertainment is some of the hottest in town. At the centre of the action, it's hard to resist a flutter at the vibrant casino.
Relaxed sophistication and attention to detail define the 2,716 suites in the 45-floor Wynn; the 2,034 in the slightly taller Encore exude casual elegance. All are equipped with the latest technology to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Floor to ceiling windows provide stunning views of either Las Vegas Strip, Wynn's own golf course or the mesmerising waterfall. Light and space feature throughout and it's worth getting as high as you can to appreciate the views and enjoy the peace away from the buzzing nightlife. Larger suites feature extras such as VIP check-in, daily in-room breakfast and private massage areas.
Award-winning chefs provide a fantastic choice of dining venues - 17 to choose from at Wynn. Restaurants such as Bartolotta Ristorante di Mare and Wing Lei serve delicious Mediterranean and Chinese creations by Chefs Paul Bartolotta and Ming Yu. At SW Steakhouse and Lakeside Seafood, Chef David Walzog crafts tempting steaks, poultry and seafood, whilst Chef Devin Hashimoto presents his fresh approach to Japanese cuisine at Mizumi. The Country Club exudes an air of 'members only', overlooking the golf course, but everyone is welcome here for a superb steakhouse lunch and dinner. More casual options are available at The Buffet, where there are 15 live-action cooking stations (the deserts are amazing!), Allegro where Chef Enzo Febbraro prepares beloved Italian dishes, and Red 8, a bistro offering diverse Asian dishes. A choice of cafes and a deli serve lighter options or try La Cave for a more intimate setting. Encore boasts a similarly accomplished team of chefs, albeit on a smaller scale with just five signature restaurants. Ol' Blue Eyes would be proud of the Italian fare produced by Chef Theo Schoenegger at Sinatra. Art lovers should head to Botero, where works of the Columbian artist are featured along with Chef Mark LoRusso's fine dining menu. Wazuzu showcases Pan-Asian cuisine and Chef Jeremy Pachero creates a classic American menu at Society Cafe Encore. It should be noted that vegans are well catered throughout the resort.
By day, there are so many ways to simply relax. The two main pools, Jacuzzis and private cabanas allow guests to enjoy an indulgent day in the sunshine. The award-winning Spas are a sanctuary for guests with a wide range of sensual treatments to suit both men and women. Enjoy the many treatment rooms, sauna and plunge pools or bask in the natural light flooding in from the ceiling in the atrium. If you like a spot of shopping there's plenty of designer boutiques to tempt you, including a Ferrari and Maserati dealership. The 18-hole golf course designed by Tom Fazio and Steve Wynn is great for a change of scene. By night, the resort springs into life with a wide choice of entertainment. When the sun sets, the water at the Lake of Dreams comes alive in a spectacular light and imagery show. Wynn Theatre entertains audiences with a nightly performance of "Le Reve-The Dream" with dazzling aerial acrobatics and staggering feats of human strength. Along with multiple bars and lounges, Wynn's glitzy nightlife includes the fabulous Tryst nightclub, home to leading DJs and where you can sample the most decadent cocktails! Encore's shimmering gold XS is one of the hottest venues in Vegas and together with Surrender Nightclub create a poolside club-like vibe. The casino itself features more than 1,900 slot machines, a 26-table poker room, table games including blackjack, craps and roulette, and a lounge setting where you can enjoy the excitement of a US sports book.
Children are welcome at the hotel, although no specific activities are laid on for little ones. Having said that, the pool is family-friendly, as are a number of the casual-dining restaurants. The light show at the Lake of Dreams runs every half an hour from 6.30pm onwards, so children can enjoy early performances of this. Babysitting services with qualified nannies can be arranged on request.
McCarran International Airport (LAS) is just 10-minutes' drive from the hotel. Airlines operate flights from all major American cities. British Airways and American Airlines fly direct from London Heathrow. Flights from Los Angeles take about an hour or many visitors choose to drive this 270-mile stretch, a route that takes around four hours. On arrival in Las Vegas, it is simple to walk, find public transport or hail taxis between most destinations.
