AUGUST FAMILY GETAWAYS AT BIRAS CREEK - BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS

With just 6 peak booking weeks on offer for school summer holidays it always seems like a race to secure the best Mediterranean hotspots! This summer why not forget the Med and head to the British Virgin Islands instead? With reasonably priced flights from the UK, fabulous 5 star accomodation, no crowds and good weather, August really is the perfect time to visit!

Now traditionally the Caribbean is not thought of as a great place to head for summer, so what about the weather?! Known as the ‘Shoulder Season’ in the British Virgin Islands, August marks the beginning of the wet season but generally the weather is warm and the days are long and sunny, with daily temperatures ranging between 25 and 30 degrees, and 9 hours of sunshine a day.

At Biras Creek in the British Virgin Islands the month of August is all about families and children of all ages are welcome to the resort. To accommodate Families the resort offers interconnecting rooms, (upon request) and meal plans that are tailored to families. Meal supplements are complimentary for children 5 and under and for children aged 6 to 11 the rate is half of the adult rate. (12 and over pay adult rate) They also offer complimentary airport transfers between Virgin Gorda or Beef Island.

The best part though is the exciting range of activities and experiences that Biras Creek have created with children in mind. Movie nights with complimentary snacks, family volleyball games and a complimentary introduction to sailing on the resorts hobie cats are just a few examples.

Biras Creek is also home to 5 gorgeous Paso Fino horses, Winston, Ben, Kidd, Sorbeto and Fugitive, all of which are rescue horses from Puerto Rico. Empowerment Experience Classes’ are solely intended for children, where they can learn about the general anatomy of a horse and have an instructor led riding lesson. (For children 6 and over.) They also offer children’s orientation to horses, which teaches them important skills such as grooming and horse safety. Parents can also join in and this activity is complimentary for three mornings a week during August.

However its not just about keeping the kids entertained. For adults they are offering complimentary yoga classes Tuesday and Saturday mornings, and for a special meal or evening out, babysitting can be arranged upon request, with prices starting at US $25 per hour for 1 child.
