Think Italian food – think Castiglion del Bosco, and we’re not just talking amazing culinary experiences served to you in the delicious Ristorante Campo del Drago, this is YOUR time to shine! This stunning estate houses La Canonica, the old priest’s house situated in the heart of the Borgo where the magic of the Castiglion del Bosco Cooking School happens.
These small classes (always book in advance!) offer a hands on experience for both children and adults – passionately recreating the way cooking skills were handed down from generation to generation.
This experience doesn’t just start in the kitchen – only a few steps away from La Canonica sits the organic kitchen garden designed by the same landscape architect who created the Vatican Gardens, the walled gardens or ‘Orto’ contain over 180 varieties of vegetables and herbs. You can choose from four difference experiences; ‘Tuscan Menu’, ‘Pizza’ or ‘Fresh Pasta’, and their newest program the ‘Forgotten Flavours’.
‘Forgotten Flavours’ aims to get back to basics with the simple, more authentic style of cooking reflecting Castiglion del Bosco’s commitment to the preservation of rural Tuscan’s architectural heritage and landscape. The idea is to try to transmit a ‘memory’s cuisine’, to lead you through an adventure designed to uncover age-old tastes (sapori) and techniques (saperi).
And the best bit – sampling your wares! These recipes are not only for the classroom but to keep – so you can share your cooking credentials with your loved ones at home.
So what are you waiting for – get yourself booked in on your next visit to this beautiful rural estate in Tuscany.
