We're feeling very proud to be British right now and despite the Olympic euphoria currently sweeping these fair isles, we're sure that those of you who are also in the UK will agree that it's been a drizzly summer weather wise! The Olympics finish this coming Sunday and no matter where you are in the world, we're sure you'll need something else to look forward to when it's all over!
So how about some September sun? Don't tell anyone but we think this is one of the BEST times to go away. Prices plummet following the peak weeks of July and August and with all the children back at school, it's a quieter time to get away while the weather's still good.
How about Zermatt? This stunning, postcard-pretty village occupies a sunny corner of the Swiss Alps below the lofty heights of the mighty Matterhorn. It's incredibly peaceful here due to the 'no cars allowed' policy and with wooden barns and cobbled streets, it sometimes feels like nothing has changed for centuries. Despite this, Zermatt is buzzing with activity throughout the Summer - take a horse drawn carriage around the town and stop off at a number of boutique shops, bakeries, chocolatiers and cafes. If you're a foodie, look no further - Zermatt is a gourmet paradise boasting some of the best restaurants we've found in the Alps. There is excellent hiking too, so let the fresh mountain air fill your lungs and enjoy some sparkling sunshine - you're sure to feel well rested after a visit to Zermatt.
