Can Breakfast Become An Addiction?

We have all been told that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, “eat breakfast like a king…” and so on and so forth. And to say we here at Oxford Private Travel believe in this ardently would be an understatement! We often have long conversations about our favourite breakfast experiences around the world; what we ate, where we were, who we were with, the view we looked out over. And as a result we’ve all ended up with a ‘bucket list’ of breakfast experiences which we simply can’t keep to ourselves. So here is a short summary of the top five breakfasts (trust us, there are more) that cannot be missed out on.

Bush Breakfast

As the sun rolls above the savanna at dawn, watch for sunrise herds of elephants trundling along foraging for breakfast, birds taking flight and lions cubs playing in the cool of the shade before it becomes too hot. Enjoy a freshly cooked omelette, pancake or fried eggs, deep in the bush – with a steaming coffee in hand you soon get the feeling that the whole world has been reserved just for you. Magical. Desert Breakfast

How does dune bashing at daybreak in 4x4s sound, pausing for a breathtaking sunrise over the vast sand dunes with hauntingly stretching shadows and utter silence, enjoying a hunger abating light breakfast and coffee on the sand, before pushing back to the hotel for a sumptuous breakfast of fresh local fruit, traditional pastries and much, much (can we add another much?) more. By the Sea

Or for those keen for a morning lazing by the pool with the jackpot addition of a tropical beach in the background; the Niyama breakfast is second to none and one that you could easily let go on for hours. The freshest of tropical fruit you can find worldwide. Fancy a coconut? Just ask someone to chop the top off one from a nearby tree right in front of your table. Robinson Crusoe eat your heart out… but actually we’re talking serious luxury so maybe it’s not really his scene? For more on Niyama see here.

City Breakfast

For a buzzing city vibe (and we understand this is not the most original of suggestions) BUT, you cannot visit New York without the classic eggs benedict at Balthazar Restaurant - with a café au lait or maybe their eponymous Green Smoothie for health’s sake. How can a French style restaurant offer such an electric atmosphere and yet, once seated, create a feeling of sheer privacy and calm. Whatever their secret is, we love it. The Healthy Option

Point Yamu 4.jpg

And last but certainly not least we wanted to share a top recommendation for luxury but also a total health kick – yes the only thing that can beat a delicious breakfast is a totally guilt-free feeling to go with it! With an extraordinarily creative and feel-good array of breakfast options, topped off with stunning scenery and a serenity that is hard to match, Point Yamu’s breakfast ticks all the right boxes. Wake up to a dawn chorus of tropical birds, stretch into an early yoga session poolside and then feast on Thailand’s finest breakfast. For more on Point Yamu see here.

Don't forget, this list is by no means comprehensive... there are many more breakfasts our team have experienced that we would love to talk to you about. Please give us a call on 01993 899 430 or enquire here if you want to talk to us about our favourite topic.
