Have you ever wondered what it would be like to go on safari but instead of the hustle and bustle of many competitive 4x4s all closing in on the serenely bathing water buffalo, you have the whole savannah to yourself? This sort of prospect appears entirely unfeasible, but in a remote and gloriously wild corner of South Africa, the game reserve Leobo promises just this. Boasting 20,000 acres of rugged and untouched wildlife and plantation that are all YOURS, for whatever type of holiday you are looking for, at any time of year. We feel privileged in simply telling you about this incredible destination! Leobo is a family run game reserve and this is evident when you stay there, since it is 100% family friendly, with plenty of memory making activities that will inspire imaginations and delight for years to come.
Once you choose to have your safari adventure with Leobo the beauty of its format is that you will have the whole reserve and its accommodation to yourselves. There are 8 bedrooms of varying sizes within the main lodge (sleeping a total of 18 people) and the new Observatory (which has won many design awards) sleeps six adults and three children in 3 double rooms and a children’s triple bunk room. Both these buildings are fitted with all the luxurious trimmings that demonstrate careful consideration of all the needs and comforts that their guests might have. With satellite wi-fi (if being connected whilst on holiday is a definite must), heated swimming pools, games room, a Jacuzzi on the roof of the Observatory and breath taking views that you’ll want to savour forever, all guests will get ‘never-want-to-leave-itus’. Due to the fact that this holiday is entirely tailor-made by the guests, you can choose whether to eat in the spectacular dining areas inside the accommodation, or venture out to enjoy the most dramatic backdrops you’ll ever have for your evening supper.
With such a wealth of activities for all ages and tastes, there is never a dull moment at Leobo, in fact one guest has summarised their stay as ‘pure FUN’. Expect safaris for whenever you feel like going on one, for example you could organise a sunrise breakfast on a mountaintop, jumping in the helicopter to get you there and back, then off on a morning drive to see the plain game as well as Hippo and Buffalo (in a Land Cruiser, on quad bikes or from horseback!!). Of course you are also welcome to go on a walking safari to really soak up the animals in their natural habitat and with no big cats the safety level is increased! Swim in the crystal clear turquoise waters of the dam, diving in to cool off from the notoriously searing African sun, or take a rod to water; expect to find bass and trout in their stocked waters, or bass and Blue fish in the 8km stretch of river tumbling through the savannah. Oh and did we need to stress once again that you’ll have the entire river at your disposal..?! How about camping on the water’s edge in a tree house, sleeping under the stars, gazing out across the wallowing hippos and feasting on a traditional South African braai as the sun sets. At night, glance up at the stars to see some of the clearest twinkling lights you’ll ever see, Leobo’s location is world famous for star gazing and for more clarity head to the Observatory for stunning visions of a galactic cosmic safari!
The level of care and consideration by all the staff at Leobo is considerable, the team seamlessly manages the incredibly complex balance between being attentive and formal yet still making it appear very informal and relaxed. The food is taken very seriously, and since you will be the only guests your menu can be bespoke to you group and their tastes. Whether that is traditional meat BBQs, Asian Fusion or Italian pizzas freshly baked in the outdoor pizza oven, which the children can enjoy as ‘chefs’ for the night!
This is not your hot spot clichéd safari, this is a slice of indulgent African paradise, completely private, luxurious and tailor-made to you. For more details on this ultimate holiday destination please call 01993 899 430 or click here to get in touch with one of our team.
