Come May, it can still seem like the traditional summer holiday is quite a way off on the horizon. Don’t despair however as May offers many fantastic opportunities for travel. There are lots of destinations with perfect climates at this time of year, neither too hot, nor too cold. The ‘summer’ holidaymakers have yet to descend meaning you are able to enjoy your destination without the crowds and even returning back home is less daunting with the whole summer yet to come.

Sicily

Quintessentially Mediterranean, this island is a crossroad of cultures with influences from Greece and Italy colliding. It is the ideal destination to explore with miles of coastline, hilltop villages and ancient ruins just waiting to be discovered. The waters around the island are some of the Mediterranean’s most pristine, making them perfect for swimmers and divers.
