Time for a city break?

Our travel planning typically involves sun drenched summer holidays by the pool and snowy winter escapes spent on the slopes, but what about the months in between?  A city break is a great way to dodge reality for a few days and completely immerse yourself in a new part of the world. Every city has a unique story and with so many incredible ones to choose from in Europe alone, the only decision you need to make is which to visit next!

The Oxford Private Travel team are here to ensure you get the very most out of your trip, no matter how long you are away. Read about our favourite city break destinations below and contact us today to start planning.

Venice

Venice is easily one of Europe’s most picturesque cities. From the moment you arrive you’ll feel as if you’ve wandered straight into a picture-perfect postcard. Step aboard a gondola for an iconic journey traveling down the city’s canals to get a real feel for life in this culture-packed haven.

Head to the Venetian Lagoon to seek out Venice’s two famous exports; blown glass and hand sewn lace. Stop by Murano to witness world renowned glass making then visit Burano, an island of colourful houses which is also home to famous lace makers.

Back in the city centre, explore the greenery and secret gardens of Venice with a guided walking tour. You’ll get to see the small, tranquil gardens at the back of the palazzo’s – often a welcome contrast from the bustling streets! For more insider information on Venice, read our latest blog from Jess who visited earlier this month.

Paris

Often considered the number one destination for a romantic getaway, Paris is next on our list. So easily accessible from the UK without even needing to board a plane, Paris is great for an effortless last-minute break.

Café culture was born here and one of our favourite things to do is to find a sun-drenched spot on a café terrace and while away the hours people watching. Be prepared for plenty of walking as you move around the city ticking off famous landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower, Louvre Museum and the Arc de Triomphe!
